Renfrew top replica

Have you heard about the renfrew top? Since I found out about this top in all the sewing blogs I was waiting for the perfect fabric for my vision of this top. Now, I didn't purchased the pattern ( you can see it here ) from the sewaholic website because I already have a perfect but simple knit top I drafted for myself and I'll talk about it in another post soon because I think pattern drafting is a big big subject in itself and I have a lot to say about it. Now about the renfrew top, the minute I saw it I loved it so much because it looks casual but polished at the same time, you know , simple design but high quality looking and youthful and comfortable... well I'll stop but you get the idea. So during the holidays my mother came to visit me and brought me this soft and warm knit cotton... yay!
The perfect fabric for this top! I don't have pictures of the fabric because she gave me the fabric in the morning and by the night the top was completed.
This is the top completed.

For doing this top I only cut 2 inches from the original hem of my own shirt pattern and replaced it by a 2 inches folded band. I did the same for the sleeves but this time a 1 inch folded band. I opted for three quarter length sleeves because I just love them.
I definitely want to do this pattern again , its so easy and nobody in the world will ever know I did it myself unless you're reading this blog 😁 . Only next time I will keep the original length of my shirt so it sits lower on my hips and I will make neckline band shorter because this part of my top it's not exactly perfect.
I already wore it two times and just felt so proud in it. This is the kind of feeling you get from sewing your own clothes.. excitement and pride.
Voila for my renfrew top imitation , see you soon with another project. Happy first week of the year!!
