Happy 2017 to everyone!

With all the craziness of the holidays I couldn't manage to write a post for two weeks but guess what? I still sewed. I did myself a dress for the new year's celebration with this fabric I have showed on my last post.

It wasn't a easy project I might say and I'll tell you why: the fabric is super thin and it's a knit.
The pattern I used is Mccall's 7092. This pattern is intended for knits so it makes the fitting process more easy. I chose to make view C.
The only modification I did was to add more flare to the skirt, only 4 inches but I think it makes a difference. I also shortened the sleeves to three quarters. I don't know why I feel like long sleeves in a dress it's too much coverage...Anyway, Here's the final result.
And the back...

So pattern matching here was a little tricky. And I gotta admit I'm not an expert in this field. I decided to put the emphasis on the front of the dress instead of the side seams. After all, who's checking your side seams? I'm satisfied with what I did in the neckline, I thinks it looks like a flower. Can you see it?

Oh I forgot to mention I omitted the insertions and to increase coverage I overlapped the two front pieces. I had to omit two of the pleats in order to have enough fabric to overlap. I think it turned out well. This is the second dress I make from this pattern and I think it's the last. However, I intend to make a top and a sleeveless top maybe in the summer.
I always thought flared skirts or dresses weren't flattering on me because of my wide hips. I'm glad I made this dress because it proved me I can wear them.
Did I mentioned this fabric cost me only 2 dollars? 😀Well yeah! I came across this in the remnant box. Don't ask me for the fabric content though but for 2 dollars I'll keep it.
Wish you all a wonderful year 2017 and plenty of joy, health, love , money and everything you wish!
